About my project
More than 70% of the population in many developing is illiterate and cannot read and write and they just use the basic functions of mobile terminal which became very popular these recent years. Only voice messaging system using local content (language) can be widely adopted and easily used.
Expected impact
Increase permament access to agricultural information independently from geographycal location and time. Farmers will have update to date information for selling or buying even literate or not.

Small Farmer Productivity
The whole Srilankan Dairy industry depend on small dairy farmers having 2-10 animals per house hold which is a secondary income generation activity and having over 600000 such farmers.
the bottle neck is to get access to a Artificial Insemination Technician to service the cow at a proper time .Unfortunately the statistics show us that the success rate is around 30% and if we could achieve another 20% success rate that will provide us a 10-20% milk production increase only by providing just in time servcies through this process using ICT4D in improving farmer productivity.
I hope this would be an eye opener for the decission makers of the country.
