EMPFTECH ICT TOOLS FOR GHANA AND BEYOUND

Challenges Entered:
INNOVATION FOR ICT IN AGRICULTURE AND MOBILE APPLICATION FOR AGRICALTURAL MARKET PRICING AND PRODUCTS IN GHANA, ALBERT YEBOAH OBENG

At the core of the this project is using innovative yet very user friendly applications and methodologies in meeting the most pressing social, economic and gender challenges in Ghana and other African countries which have agriculture as their main stay of their economies and also for developing countries like Ghana who are also facing challenges of high unemployment among fresh graduates. Whiles the project do not have a regular full time funding we are confident that the individual contributions by the project staff and other supporting groups and the success rate of the project will attract financial and logistical partners to come to support or work with us jointly on this important important project. Also as an important component of this project has been our gender equal opportunities policy which we have put in place to creating the balance for young women and fresh female graduates to be given the opportunities in the ICT sector in Ghana is highly dominated by men and we are happy to be associated with such a policy.

Sustainability Model:
This project as we have identified has long term benefits and very sustainable as presently every farmer has access to the mobile phone and the agricultural sector in the area of growing crops through to harvesting will exist indefinitely and there is the need by the project to upgrade and coming-out with new innovative products and services to our target beneficiaries. In-fact we think the long term sustainability of the is project is going to create an innovative ICT Graduates in Ghana and the software market for information gathering for IT Firms abroad who will like to tap into our project is also very bright. The is the hunger and need for new farming products and services and we will use innovation through modern but very user friendly mobile networks and ICT tools to do this and we are confident of the longevity and sustainability of this important project. Farmers in Ghana now are shifting from a policy of manually using their strenght to farm to mechanisation and moving from the traditional farming system to a more western morden methods as more younger and educated people are going into farming and this makes it attractive to work with this new breed of committed and middle level educated crop of farmers while maintaining a permanent and mobile staff to sustain the project and the other stakeholders who are major actors including farming groups and leaders in the catchment towns makes the project very sustainable.
Expertise needed:
1.We need project staff who have adequate skill in GIS that is Geographic Information Systems and other database management applications as this will enable us to crate accurate project database for our system.
2.The is also the real need of additional experts on the project with skill in Project Management and the Evaluation of projects and we consider this very useful.
3. We also need further expertise in intellectual property, patents and licensing of projects and in International Trade Law which we think is very important in the long term benefits of the project.
Project goals:
1.We are seeking to making this project a long term running profitable entity in the long term.
2.We are also working to attracting key invests in the Telecommunications, Business and the Agricultural sectors into Ghana through this project as we have identified a long term need in the sector.
3. We are also seeking to provide more user friendly but innovative solutions to the catchment farming communities and also providing an employment opportunities for fresh graduates in the areas of IT, Agriculture and Business in the long term.
Identified Obstacles:
1.Our most important challenge for the project is funding for the projects costs
2. We are also facing logistical challenges including the lack of computers, laptops, printers and scanners, storage devices and other materials.
3.The was the need for regular access to skilled personnel however we are resulted to using university students on internships and volunteer placements for this need.

Thank you for sharing your

Thank you for sharing your project, which I have added to my favorites on Netsquared. Can you also support Kabissa's project and give your feedback? We are a network connecting people and organizations for Africa - you are very welcome to also join Kabissa, an online platform where people and organizations working in Africa can showcase themselves and connect with each other for peer learning and information sharing.

I think it would be useful to people here on Netsquared that want to help you if you could provide more details about your organization and the projects you are seeking help for here. Perhaps you could take just one piece of your overall activities and present that as a project?

Cheers,

Tobias
