Mobile/Web Micro-volunteering
This project is rooted in micro-volunteerism; meaning individuals volunteering in micro-units of time ranging from minutes to a few hours depending on the needs of the organization. A web/mobile application will serve as the platform for Spare Time.
Instead of creating a pool of organizations for volunteers to choose from, Spare Time creates a pool of micro-volunteers for Social Benefit Organziations (SBO's) to create, manage, and choose from in REAL-TIME.
Spare Time as a Hide n' Seek Analogy:
Currently, the individual has the whole world of organizations to blindly dedicate time in seeking, they could be hiding anywhere(the internet, down the street, in another country). The Spare Time approach inverses this relationship, making the organization the "Seeker", and requiring the individual only to register for Spare Time and submit when they have spare time available via their web or mobile device.

Would appreciate your vote in the prestigious UK TalkTalk Digital Heroes comp. I've been shortlisted down to the last 3 and winning it would enable me to set up schemes to promote micro-volunteering to school kids (Help From School), the responsible tourist market (Help From Holiday) and prisons. I already promote it to office workers and care home residents as well as to people within their own homes.

I think its important to
I think its important to mention here, that our intention is to have a more local than national focus on micro-volunteering. Filling the volunteerism void within our local communities is a very critical aspect of our project.

Micro-volunteering is really getting a buzz these days and deservedly so. It allows people to do good in bite sized amounts of time that does not impact on a person's time or finances.
It doesn't get ant easier than this to volunteer.
