HEADSpace - Global Life Skills

Solving the Problem of Weak Primary Skills.

Programme READ revisits the Primary Skill Set and delivers its complete content through media in all its forms - Print, Radio, Television, Cable, iPods, Internet and through Learning Centres, Community Centres, Schools and Colleges, Hospitals and the workplace using computers.

READ targets all groups currently undertaking remediation efforts wherever they are and provides support to ensure they succeed. They include: Framers, Workers, Institutions, Community Groups.

The programme partners with media houses and corporate sponsors to join READ to prepare the knowledge worker by providing him/her with the sound foundation of Primary Skills Sets.

There is a global demand for this service. The idea is to create another Google, Facebook or otherwise where at the base the services are nominally priced or free and revenue is generated via advertising. In addition this is an ideal project for benefactors that wish to support community initiatives. The service supports schools with limited resources or short of teachers.
Expertise needed: 
Management Expertise: Expertise required in the areas of Programme Development, Project Management, Access to Funding.
Technical Expertise: Expertise required in the areas of Content Development, Interactive Learning Programme, Video Creation, and, Assessment and Testing.
Marketing/Media Expertise: Global Interfacing for training, support and marketing
Project goals: 
The process as developed over many years:1992-1996: Executive Director-Jamaica 2000 to place computers in Jamaican Schools.1996-2000: Development of the New School. 1998-1999: Tested the Model in the Port Royal Primary School - 2000-2000: Developed Model of Educational Technology for use in Local Schools. 2002-2004: Commence the Development of the Reading Programme - Part Time.2004-2008: Full Time effort to address the needs of the Primary System.2007-2007: Test the effective of the Programme using adult men from local factory.2008-2008: Currently testing implementation with 500 members of 10 communities.2009-2009: Proposed use by Vocational Training Institute to upgrade students.
Identified Obstacles: 
The internet allows total freedom. The challenge is to sustain the programme that is heavily dependent of Research and Developement.
