Interactive Alerts  

Interactive Alerts offers a new twist to patient tracking and data collection using a mobile phone. A multi-tier system, it comprises of a mobile client application running on the Nokia 6131 NFC (Near Field Communication) phone; a sever side application and data storage with a web front end to view data as it is posted from the phone in real time.

Sounds pretty normal so far? Well what separates our system from the others is the use of RFID. The Nokia 6131 NFC has a built in RFID reader/writer and our system makes full use of that capability to read and write patient information to and from the tags directly. Patients are provided with these tags (which contain unique patient identifiers), which are scanned at all encounters, hence eliminating a lot of errors that can arise from manual entry of extremely important patient information.

The mobile application itself can be configured for various roles and given to individuals and teams assigned to those roles. These roles range from our Data Management Unit issuing ID's to the tags to the enrollment team enrolling and registering the patients to the GP clinicians diagnosing patients to our phlebotomist performing tests on the patient.

No cell phone coverage, no problem!! The application stores the data locally on the phone until it's able to send it to the server.

The system also has the capability to send SMS alerts to different team members based on the event being posted on the server.
