HIV ATLAS: Serving positively proud people

HIV ATLAS is an international technology initiative connecting Wants and Haves in the field of HIV/AIDS with a local perspective and global mindset.

WHAT is HIV ATLAS? HIV ATLAS is a major international technology initiative connecting Wants and Haves in the field of HIV/AIDS with a local perspective and global mindset to facilitate effective interchange of community voices, key global policy forums for HIV and AIDS, Governments, Donor agencies, NGO Delegates and the perspectives of civil society, including people living with HIV. 

HOW it plans to do it?  HIV ATLAS (www.hivatlas.org) strives to extract VIABLE INFORMATION from SCATTERED DATA  through a network of country specific web platforms like www.hiv.org.in (India) along with their offline handles, partners on ground, connected to each other.  

This network includes a Worldwide HIV/AIDS Classifieds (www.aidsatlas.com ) section, HIV/AIDS Wiki ( www.hivwiki.com) and HIV/AIDS Blogs (www.aidsatlas.org), all accessible through MOBILE Phones and on-ground partners to minimize the effect of digital divide particularly big in developing countries.

FOR WHOM?  HIV ATLAS web portals along with their offline handles (partners on ground) are envisioned to serve:  

  1. People living with HIV/AIDS and their networks.
  2. People, Professionals working for the cause of HIV/AIDS and Civil society in general.

With local presence and global mindset, HIV ATLAS strives to be a sustainable model through:   Advertising revenues on its worldwide and planned 160 country specific sites from Pharmaceutical industry, corporate houses and Businesses. Revenue from Sponsors for news letters, white papers a offline meetingsOnline Google Ads revenue on its worldwide and planned 160 county specific sites. Grant writing in collaboration with its local partners in various countries. HIV ATLAS online store revenue. Direct Donations from well wishers from various countries
Project goals: 
Day 1 -30:         Making site more user sensitive based on the feedback from beta launch.  Reanalyzing and improving the architecture and design of the web platform from a user perspective and scalability perspective.Researching user profiles, comments and their degree of understanding, usage of website to determine if there are any major changes, customizations required. Tracking the user movement through the site and co-relating it to the visual and content appeal of exit screens for required customization. Day 31-60:  Design and   Development work for a v 1.0 launch on 60th Day  Day 61-75:   Marketing and content generation while tracking user profiles and movement on site.  90th Day: v 2.0 Launch with a competent and varied editorial board in place 
Identified Obstacles: 
The main obstacle as of now is funds to scale HIV ATLAS movement.Internet penetration amongst people living with HIV and the organizations, people working for the cause remains very low and this obstacle has been planned to be met by offline partners who would help the information reach to internet and vice versa.  Going further, the main obstacle from a maintenance point of view can be misleading information about HIV/AIDS posted on the site by some users but it is planned to be tackled through some intelligent algorithms and category specific content editors. HIV ATLAS plans to comply with the 'HONcode' standard for trustworthy health information and global internet governance norms.

HIV ATLAS- A Good Initiative

It's good initiative taken by HIV ATLAS Team. Currently HIV/AIDS WORLD lacks the platform where one can get all the things, one is seeking for. HIV ATLAS seems to fill that empty space. I believe it's a place where we can only exchange info/requirements but also its platform one can express his/her views openly without any discretion.

 

Amongst all the service HIV ATLAS intends to provide, I think classified is one of the very important and useful tool, which has been missing in HIV/AIDS for long. One can really post their services or requirement without any stigma and discrimination. Hope with HIV ATLAS Classifieds, it would be easier of us to get hold of information available not only at individual level but at organizational level too.

 

HIV ATLAS  is a place of all as it covers most of sections of the HIV/AIDS WORLD. I would like to thanks the HIV ATLAS Team for the bringing this good site to us.
