Worldyouth

Challenges:

The philosophy of worldyouth.com is to learn young people in Africa, especially in the conflict area (East of Democratic Republic of Congo and Darfur/Sudan, etc) more about the human rights, peace and to expose human rights violations  by using the information and communication Technologies.

Worldyouth.com will connect young people across the countries and across the continent to find inspiration, information and get involved on different human rights activities and peace programs, initiatives and improving their commitment to advocate the human rights locally, regionally and globally.

Worldyouth.com will allow young people to participate in educational programs, share ideas, experiences, information on different subjects related to the human rights in the conflict area in different local communities with others young people across the continent and around the world.

Worldyouth.com will facilitate young people in the east of Democratic Republic of Congo and Darfur in Sudan to explore and better understand of the human rights and its impact on development, social and cultural issues in their community, while at the same time learning about the community of others groups and building a local, regional and global network of young people committed to advocate the human rights issues.

Background Information and Statement of the problem.

The     war in Africa, especially in east of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Darfur in Sudan   has caused many cases of human rights violations, many people (men, women, youth and children) have been abused (killed, raped, torture, aggression, etc) and young people continue to have a negative impact of human rights violations on their lives. Affecting their physical and mental health, their behaviors, their future without to have access to their rights,   and to understand  what means the human rights ,where and who can be contacted when a personal was been victim of human rights abuse, etc

Young people in the east of Democratic Republic of Congo and in Darfur in Sudan represent a considerable part of people who are also been affected by the human rights violation and have not access to a comfortable information on the human rights, for that reason, it is important that theses young people have access to an interesting and reliable source of information about the human rights and peace.

The most recent published across the continent and in theses regions do not provide a comprehensive analysis of victims of human rights violation, their rights to access in the court and their vision for a change of the situation on the human rights in their region and not engendered contribution from young people from all region, by consequent young people have not capacity to contribute to advancing human rights, to fight against the human rights abuse, to build their capacity on the human rights, to promote the change and do not have resource information to increase knowledge and experiences on the human rights process, activities and others related programs.

For achieving theses lack of information and to contribute to advocate the human rights across the continent, especially in the east of Democratic Republic of Congo and in Darfur in Sudan and promote their commitment to the human rights and sustainable development, we propose to create worldyouth.com

The worldyouth.com will be considered as an important tool for information dissemination and educational programs, on the human rights issues in the east of democratic Republic of Congo and in Darfur in Sudan, which will be a process that is being developed by human rights activist, educators, young people in the community by sending themselves information and contributions on the human rights situation in their local communities.

The worldyouth.com is an initiative by young people, for young people in Africa, especially in the conflict area, as in east of democratic Republic of Congo and in Darfur in Sudan, which will combine the scientific information with illustrations, short case studies, poems, photos, quotes, opinions, songs, videos on human rights issues submitted by young people around different countries and conflict area, in a format that appeals to young people.

Theses examples demonstrates the 2 cases, where human rights abuses have been registered, where propose to contribute

The East of Democratic Republic of Congo and the Second Congo WarThe  second Congo war, also known as Africa's World War and the Great War of Africa, began in 1998 and though it officially ended in 2003 when the Transitional Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo took power, its aftershocks continue to threaten a third war. The largest war in modern African history, one of the deadliest conflicts since World War II, it directly involved eight African nations, as well as about 25 armed groups. 3.8 million people died, mostly from starvation and disease. Millions more were displaced from their homes or sought asylum in neighboring countries. Despite a formal end to the war in July 2003 and an agreement by the former belligerents to create a government of national unity, 1,000 people died daily in 2004 from easily preventable cases of malnutrition and disease. A U.N. human rights expert reported in July 2007 that sexual atrocities against Congolese women go 'far beyond rape' and include sexual slavery, forced incest, and cannibalism. The Darfur Region.Darfur (Arabic: دار فور, lit. "home of the Fur") is a region of far western Sudan, bordering the Central African Republic, Libya, and Chad. It is divided into three federal states within Sudan: Gharb Darfur (West Darfur), Janub Darfur (South Darfur), and Shamal Darfur (North Darfur). It is currently in the midst of an ongoing conflict originating from the conflict between Janjaweed militias and rebel groups (namely the Sudan Liberation Movement and Justice and Equality Movement)  Goals and Objectives of worldyouth.com

1. To increase human rights information dissemination amongst young people and to involve them to respect and to advocate the human rights and related issues in their local community and across the continent.

2. To create a positive change towards human rights issues among young people in east of Democratic Republic of Congo and in Darfur in Sudan.

3. To provide a forum for discussing human rights issues and exchanging ideas, videos, information and promoting effective local, regional and global networking among young people.

 Rationale

Young people living in conflict area in Africa often lack simple but essential information about human rights that could improve their knowledge on their rights in their local community and their standard of living.

Human rights-related information is among the most essential as a simple answer could save and change a life.

Dissemination of such information using paper or traditional tools has proven to be not only expensive but ineffective at relaying most current information as updating can be slow and costly and don't allow in most of case young people to contribute self to the information dissemination.

Innovation and Expected results of worldyouth.com

The Information and communication technologies, especially the Internet are an extremely cost-effective tool to make human rights information dissemination and education available to the masses quickly and at an extremely low price.

Using internet website, worlsyouth.com (web 2.0) tools for educational purposes is particularly appropriate for targeting populations in conflict area which may lack access to other forms of media but have to become increasingly connected via internet.

This system will also allow more flexibility than traditional mass educational system efforts because information can be adapted quickly as the context changes.

Finally, monitoring is embedded in the system and will serve as a feedback loop so that changes can be made to increase the popularity or effectiveness of courses.

The worldyouth.com will directly reach people in the conflict area and others part of the continent and have the potential to eventually convey information to millions in the continent.

Target

The   worldyouth.com project will target people aim in conflict area in Africa, especially in east of Democratic Republic of Congo and in Darfur in Sudan where many abuses cases of human rights violations have been registered.

Potential target people in the project will be men, women, youth and children between 10 and 30 years old, as well as human rights activist and educators, human rights based organizations & youth groups, national and international non-governmental organizations (NGO's) and Community-Based Organizations (CBO's)
