Relay For Life

Supporting organization:
American Cancer Society
URL:
www.cancer.org/docroot/GI/gi_1.asp
Project Description:
Relay For Life is a series of events to celebrate cancer survivors and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Over the summer of 2005, Christopher Dover also established a blog to document and discuss various online strategies that would complement the Relay For Life events.

Points of interest:
The Relay For Life team is making a strong effort to integrate traditional face-to-face events with internet based communications strategies. In Christopher Dover's blog, which is subtitled, "Cancer, Blogs, and Relay for Life,"  he reflects on how ACS can use new media such as blogs, podcasts, mobcasts, live journals, telephone cameras,  and photo sharing software to increase the Relay For Life's effectiveness in fundraising.  He does a great job of offering both techies and potential donors a friendly meeting place in the middle.  In addition to an excellent set of web links, he writes blog articles that are friendly and accessible to those who are more interested in fighting cancer than in the latest cool tools.
