Happy Blog Action Day everyone! In case you haven't heard, Blog Action Day is an annual event held every October 15 that unites the world’s bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day with the aim of sparking a global discussion and driving collective action. This year's topic is water. I've seen loads of really great #BAD2010 posts today, so for my contribution to this effort, I've decided to share a round-up of web and mobile technology related Blog Action Day posts.
More people have access to a cell phone than to a toilet. Today, 2.5 billion people lack access to toilets. This means that sewage spills into rivers and streams, contaminating drinking water and causing disease. As hand-held mobile devises connected to the internet spread to cities, villages, remote communities around the world, we need to continue finding ways to use these tools to make a positive impact.
Here are a few ways you can use technology today to learn more and act for water conservation!
This Thursday, October 15, is Blog Action Day. This year's focus is Climate Change. "Blog Action Day is an annual event that unites the world's bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day on their own blogs with the aim of sparking discussion around an issue of global importance. Blog Action Day 2009 will be the largest-ever social change event on the web. One day. One issue. Thousands of voices." Â
