BlogHer08: The Second Life Experience

Britt Bravo is on a much-deserved vacation, so I'm stepping in for her to keep news and information about the social change web coming your way!

July 18 - 20th saw the convergence of many thousands of women (and men) in San Francisco for the annual BlogHer conference. BlogHer, as you probably know, provides "opportunities for women who blog to pursue exposure, education, community and economic empowerment."

Getting It On(line) for a Cause with Glitteractica Cookie: BlogHer Conference in Second Life

Susan Tenby/Glitteractica Cookie, TechSoup's Senior Online Community Manager, will be talking about the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life as part of BlogHer in Second Life '07, Friday, July 27th from 4:30-5:45 PM Central Standard Time (US).

She will be joined by Ruby Sinreich/Ruby Glitter, founder and editor of OrangePolitics.org, and In Kenzo, the creative director of AMO Studio in Second Life.

Congratulations Lucy Bernholz and BlogHer!

As many of you know, NetSquared is a project of the nonprofit, CompuMentor, so we have to give a big shout out to one of our Board Members, Lucy Bernholz.  Lucy's blog, Philanthropy 2173, was named a Fast Company "best blog".  You can listen to Lucy, Howard Rheingold and Paul Saffo's panel, "Making the Most of Disruption," from the NetSquared Conference here.

Net2Con: Distributed Grassroots Marketing

I'm Sarah Pullman and I'm blogging live from the session on distributed grassroots marketing. The speakers are Elisa Camahort, Tara Hunt, Chris Messina, and it's being moderated by Marnie Webb. I'm definitely not catching everything and it won't all be totally correct but I hope you'll forgive me and find it useful anyway. :)

Elisa Camahort of BlogHer Conference

Speaks about how they made the website badge for BlogHer, and people totally took them and ran with them. Made up all kinds of spin-offs.

SXSW in Full Swing...

Hi. I'm Jennifer Schegel, Marketing Manager at Compumentor (home of TechSoup & NetSquared). I'm here at SXSW with Billy Bicket, Marshall Kirkpatrick, Edie Codel and others from the Net2 Community whom I look forward to meeting soon. I'll be posting some updates on this blog from the conference here in Austin.

On Friday we left the cold spell in SF and stepped off the plane into what was left of a 92-degree-day! We quickly found our way through the desert-like heat to Stubb's (http://www.stubbsaustin.com/) for serious, world-famous BBQ. Billy and the rest of the crowd chowed down on ribs with all the fixins', but being a vegetarian, I only observed the delight.
