We wish to appeal that you kindly accept to sponsor a child for the African Youth Development Foundation (AFRYDEF).
In Africa, many families live under the poverty line of USD 1 per day and therefore cannot afford to feed their children. Think of it, how would these poor families then be able to pay for their children’s medical needs as well as provide them with the basic education needed to empower them for life? Â
These uneducated and unhealthy children therefore grow up into adulthood, get married early and begin to make their own large families (of at least ten children each) like their parents due to idleness and frustration.
The cycle of poverty continues . . !
Happy St. Paddy's Day! In sunny FL, we've been up for hours waiting for you to wake up - we're hoping you'll spread the luck o' the Irish & vote for us here after reading more about our entry. Our original submission was a little less complete than we'd planned, but we've included many more details below, including examples, a use case diagram, an expanded list of potential data sources & shared services and many compelling statistics that illustrate why we believe this tool could have incredibly broad application & appeal, so read on:

Dear Friends of CORAfrica,
Hat tip to my grandma for this one. She sent me the article, "Blogging Teaches Write Stuff," from the Arizona Republic about a teacher from Cimarron Springs Elementary school who received a TeachersFirst Class Blogs Award from TeachersFirst.com for his use of blogs with young people.
The mission of the DuPage Children’s Museum is to stimulate curiosity, creativity, thinking and problem solving in young children through:
"Connect for Kids makes the best use of communications technologies, specifically the Internet, to give adults—parents, grandparents, guardians, educators, advocates, policymakers, elected officials and others—the tools and information they need to improve the lives of children, youth and families."
Under The CFK Umbrella, the blog for Connect for Kids, provides a space for staff and guests to share their views on news and events that effect children and teens. Visitors to the blog can join in on the conversation by adding a new comment to each posting.
The UNICEF Podcast is a new global radio service focusing on the health, education, equality and protection of children. Podcasts range from 2-15 minutes and include announcements about campaigns (like their Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS campaign), reports from the field by UNICEF workers and children from places as far away as Sri Lanka and as close as New Orleans, news stories around issues (protecting children from landmines) by adults and young people, and broadcasts from related conferences.
