I know that many of us are struggling with doing things online that are educational AND interesting. I love so called "serious games" for that purpose, but of course they take a long time to produce and are anything but cheap. Which is why I'd like to share an example with you.
A camera team that was working with the Red Cross while I was in Haiti just created a serious game that allows players to take on the role of a journalist, aidworker or survivor and I think it's really impressive.
Good distance learning and e-learning programmes for aid workers  are hard to find. I just posted a list of seven courses and programmes that I know of - from Human Rights to Mine Action and from a complete university degree to a short module on H1N1. Please leave a comment if you know of more.

John Smith is the community steward for CPsquare, a community of practice about communities of practice. The group brings people together from around the world through online, telephone and face to face meetings to share their knowledge and learn together about how communities of practice can best function and learn in any field.
The following is a summary with key excerpts from a recent interview we did together. Discussion included John's thoughts on group learning and new technologies and those are what I've focused on here. You can click the "excerpt" link next to any of the summary points to hear John in his own words.
