Hi everyone, I'm Lela and I am co-executive director of NiJeL.org - Community Impact Through Mapping and an organizer of the Phoenix Netsquared group. I'm thrilled to be attending and I'm particularly excited to meet with the other mapping groups participating. If anyone has time for a mapping sidebar (maybe at the bar) let me know.
At NiJeL, we are working with groups around the world and here in the US to develop web and paper-based maps to fundraise, advocate, understand community problems, and document results to diverse audiences. We are committed to open source mapping techniques and we also train organizations and help them conduct participatory mapping.
Our first "real" Phoenix meeting had a decent turnout of 8 persons. As internal communication was one of the key areas which was highlighted discussion, Jaime Casap from Google's Phoenix office will be joining us in September to talk about Google Apps for nonprofits.
RSVP on the Netsquared Meetup site!
Hello all,
We are initiating Net Tuedays in Phoenix (technically, Tempe)... our first meeting is tomorrow night, June 12, from 5-6:30.
This meeting will be pretty informal. Randy Roberson will be giving a short presentation on HELP and his experiences at N2Y2. We'll also be talking about where to go from here with Net Tuesdays in Phoenix.
The meeting will be taking place at ASU's Edson Center, which is located in the Brickyard Orchid House (BYOC) at 21 E. 6th Street, Suite 126C, Tempe, Arizona, just east of Mill Avenue between 6th and 7th streets. The office is on the south side of the building.
See you then!
Do you work in Phoenix for a nonprofit that is using the social web for social change, or for a tech company that has a social web tool nonprofits could use, or for yourself as a nonprofit tech consultant with a specialty in the social web? If you fit any of these profiles, you're going to want to speak at a Net Tuesday in Phoenix. The first one will be on June 12th.
If you are interested in speaking or attending, contact Justin Kiggins at jkiggins@coarweb.org or Randy Roberson at rroberson@disasterlogistics.org
