NetSquared Mashup Challenge Video & Postcard en Español!

Big thanks to Eduardo Bejar, organizer of Net Tuesday Guyaquil, and Executive Director of Fundapi.org for translating the NetSquared Mashup Challenge YouTube video and postcard that I posted about yesterday into Spanish! Fundapi’s project, Yankana.org, was one of the Featured Projects at N2Y2.

You can watch/share the video in Spanish on Overstream and the postcard text is below:

Spread the Word About the NetSquared Mashup Challenge

We received our first NetSquared Mashup Challenge submission yesterday, CorpWatch - Government Data on Corporations. Their mashup will combine information sources such as the EPA's Toxics Release Inventory and the Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR database. Pretty cool, huh?

Do you know other people who have great ideas for mashups with social impact? If so, please share the link to the NetSquared Mashup Challenge with them, and the video we just posted on YouTube.

Simple concept, how flyers can help

While I was in the shower a couple of minutes ago, I figured out this simple concept to help some homeless people:

If you own a bar, you want publicity, it has to reach out and make a positive connection to your bar. So you'd probably make some flyers and spread them. My simple concept adds to that, as follows:

1) Make flyers (postcard size)

  • On the front side, 'One free beer for this good person'
  • On the backside, '......... is a good person'
  • Perhaps a little bit of design work to make it look 'official' (you'll understand if you read the rest)

2) Make contact with a homeless person who is willing to do some simple work
