Dinner Before the Opening Reception at Netsquared

AgentHandy Erin Denny organized a pre-conference dinner to talk about how nonprofits can use social networking tools. We had a great conversation about that with Ed, Bob, Dmitri, and Lucy. Bob took notes with his portable keyboard and PDA -- hopefully he will blog the notes.

We attempted to exchange business cards with beaming, but unfortunately our devices would not talk to one another!

One cool thing I learned about that castingwords.com which does transcription of your recorded audio and returns it to you in an RSS feed so you can post it. (Ed told me about it.) He explained the work flow:

Hi, folks,

I'm a brand-new Technology Analyst at CompuMentor, and I'm excited to be working and attending the Netsquared conference this week. My on-site participation will begin with a hosted discussion-focused dinner about open-source computing, held at the Tomatina Santa Clara restaurant at 3127 Mission College Blvd. in, you guessed it, Santa Clara, California. We'll start at 5PM and wind up by 7PM.

Hello folks!

I will be hosting a pre-conference dinner Monday night, from 5pm until the reception starts at 7pm.

NOTE: The venue was to be Nicolino's Garden Cafe, but it is closed for memorial day. Please join staff at La Fontana restaurant in the Hilton if you were planning on coming here

The topic is "Technology of Social Networks", a discussion of the technology powering social networking sites.

You don't need to be a techie to enjoy. Technology is not the closed-up, tight-lipped death-star fortress that it used to be.
