The folks at Sustainable Table, the creators of the Eat Well Guide and the Green Fork Blog, have put out a new book, Cultivating the Web: High Tech Tools for the Sustainable Food Movement.

The printed book will debut at Slow Food Nation this weekend in San Francisco, but you can download it for free from the Eat Well Guide site now.

Mouth of Babes Internet TV Series

I haven't had a chance to look round this site much yet but from the about page this sounds like a brilliant project.

Our internet tv series Mouth of Babes will start filming sortly after Easter. Our mother is due end of April, Ruthie and her son Mikko have agreed to demonstrate simple, nutrient dense foods for us. The show will be broadcast on miro's new food edition in June.

Eat In, Act Out

The Massachusetts-based nonprofit, the Food Project is putting on it's annual Eat In, Act Out Week, and you can participate! Next Week (July 31st-August 6th) make an effort to, eat in (use local food and cook food yourself instead of going out), and act out (speak up and take action to promote local food).

You can find places selling local food near you through the Local Harvest site, search for Eat In, Act Out events near you, or add your own, on the Eat In, Act Out Frappr Map, and read more about the Food Project on their blog.

I've been reading a lot about food lately because earlier this week I had the opportunity to interview Anna Lappé, author of Grub, and co-author, with her mother, Frances Moore Lappé, of Hope's Edge.

Oakland Food System Assessment on a Wiki for the Mayor's Office

Brahm Ahmadi, the Executive Director of the nonprofit, People's Grocery, recently posted on the organization's blog that two graduate students have created a wiki to publish their assessment and analysis of Oakland's Food System for the Mayor's Office of Sustainability.
