My 5 Faves

My Five Faves:

Farmer2Farmer Learning

Because when I asked them why they didn't list themselves in the "education" cause category, they said 'because there's so much more to it than education.' That pretty much sums it up for all of us who seek to engage the social web for collaborative learning and social change.

NCPC-Prevention Communities

Common Problems -- Common Solutions

Common Project Visions:

Collaboratively identify common problems and common solutions

A number of project proposals share a common vision: creating a space where our respective constituencies can share common problems and collaboratively identify common solutions.

I also see that our projects share a common problem = Engaging user participation!

I bet we can help each other overcome our common obstacles to fulfilling our common vision.

Selearninggames Redesign

The working draft of redesign for Selearninggames home page received 50 unique visitors over the past 24 hours. My stats don't tell if some of the visits are coming from the Net2 community. If they are -- I want to make sure you all know --

YOUR FEEDBACK, comments, edits -- to the working draft would be SO very WELCOME.

The working draft aims to incorporate two redesign themes emerging from the redesign team: "story" plus "question/answer" mechanism.

Wiki and Blog tools

I was very interested to see so many projects to date have listed WIKI (4) and BLOG (9) as tools they are using .

I was also disappointed that many of us are not describing the way we plan to USE the wiki and blog tools to accomplish our social purpose.

Because the wiki and blog are the primary tools for the design phase of my own project - I was really looking forward to learning more about how each of us is using similar tools to serve our different project goals.

I made a few individual comments. But then I thought - heck - post a general comment -- appeal -- let's figure out a way to tell each other more about how we use the tools

Reflection: Education category: Technology Innovation Fund project proposals

In my review of my fellow project proposals in the Education category (8 so far) -- I am fascinated to see such a wide range of what we each think counts as "education."

Some proposals are right there squarely in the formal k-12 context -- albeit with an out-of-the-box concept for 'how to' or 'what to' learn.

Other proposals are outside a conventional definition of formal education -- and aimed at an adult, professional population.

Yet other projects support education/learning indirectly.

Have any of the rest of you noticed the same thing? What do you think?

Selearninggames Project Proposal

I am so honored to have Selearninggames be among this impressive array of projects using technology for social good!

Discovering what other folks are up to is one of the most exciting aspects of this proposal process. I recognize a few projects from the Omidyar Network FoodChain group - but so many new cool things are happening. And we are surely just the tip of the iceberg.

The other thing I'm looking forward to is the opportunity we all have to comment on each other's proposals, give feedback, and refine our projects based on that feedback.
