Slate V2.1

Whoops. There was an unintended consequence to my 'updating' my slate yesterday which is that Leo Romero has compiled a chart to list "experts'" (aka Net2 staff and advocates) choices,

http://www.netsquared.org/blog/leo-romero/how-experts-are-voting

so when I changed my list based on the last blizzard of entries on April 6, I inadvertently 'demoted' some great projects from Leo's chart.

Results of Huge Experiment

Net2 called it a "huge experiment," and we took it in that spirit when we posted our ATSTAR program as a candidate - thanks for the opportunity to jump in with you! I am sharing results so far and would love to hear from others who posted projects.

Ok, I'm left with one slot only. And that one I'd like to use for this interesting project:

My Slate V2

On the day before nominations ended, I posted my ten choices of the time. Little did I know that 50 projects would come in on the last day. Also, I've been reading the arguments advanced in the various slate posts and been influenced thereby.

In an email, Siegfried Woldhek of Nabuur just wrote to me:

"What an interesting experiment this is turning out to be. Implicitly at least three new criteria were added to the official, sensible list.
- The size of the mailing list
- The activism of the inner circle

So much more to be done...2

Ok, I already explained my methodology, now let me submit my votes....Its not in preference, I just tried to place them in random order. Not that I didn't like other projects, it is simply an amazing list of projects, it was very difficult to select my best 10...Anyway, here goes my list of 8, for the rest 2, I'm still thinking... (please also see: http://www.netsquared.org/blog/partha/so-much-more-be-done-3 for my last vote)

You still have time to look at our proposal and vote for it!

The digital divide that affects developing countries is more than just the lack of access to the internet. It also has to do with lack of, or minimal, content development as well as limited use of appropiate tools to get the best of the net. Taking these issues into account, how can most non profit organizations located in developing countries attempt to create content with local relevance while using appropiate tools if their technological skills are limited, usually they don't have the required hardware and sometimes not even speak english?
With our help!

Yankana is a project designed to help non profit organizations located in developing countries to utilize, adopt and benefit from social web tools in their fields of work, without requiring technological skills or financial resources for infrastructure, and with support in their native language. Yankana is a project created and promoted by Fundapi, a non profit organization based in Ecuador, South America, that has experience with ICT initiatives for development since 2001.

How many votes does it take??

buttons of hope

Sunday afternoon...and curious!? I know you can't / won't tell us who is leading in the voting -- but can you share how many votes the top projects are getting -- 10s, 100s, 1000S -- just curious!

And when will the winnners be announced?

Someone beat me over the head with the sleepy stick today. This has felt kind of like a self-portrait in four parts, by the way. But we're almost done. The last two choices come out today. No more ado:
