Rhiz.eu: Social Networking for Cultural Cooperation

The European Cultural Foundation is an, "Amsterdam-based foundation that stimulates and promotes cultural cooperation and strong cultural policies across the broader Europe and its neighbouring regions." The ECF created Rhiz.eu, a social networking site for artists, journalists, filmmakers, writers, photographers, funders and arts organizations, to celebrate cultural diversity and to facilitate connections between cultural communities. The site is part of the Foundation's activities leading up to (and going beyond) the 2008 European Year of Intercultural Dialogue.

Hi all! I haven't written in a year! Mostly because I was inbetween jobs. But, I have just started a new job at the Monmouth County Arts Council in New Jersey. I'm the new communication director and have come in at a great time. The organization is looking to redesign their website and I'm going to be a big part of that effort. I'm extreemly excited and am formulating ideas, I would love some feedback, check out what we have at www.monmouthartscouncil.org. it's very web 1.0 and I'd like to make it as dynamic as possible. What tools are practical for an arts organization like ours?

E-Artcasting: Social Media in Art Museums

I ran across a blog/project last month that I thought might interest Net2 folks, E-Artcasting: Sociable Technologies in Art Museums (English + Espanol). According to the blog's profile, it is produced by a group of Fulbright Scholars from around the world, and is directed by Pilar Gonzalo. In addition to a blog, they also have a wiki, a Flickr stream, a del.icio.us account, and a Listible list.

Project Description

"SF0 is a collaborative and immersive game set in San Francisco. The goals of play include meeting new people, exploring the city, and participating in creative non-consumer leisure activities."

The game seeks to be an open structure, a context for interacting with the city and the people who live in it. Players are asked to engage in a variety of collaborative activities (also known as "tasks") relating to different aspects of city life. They are also given the opportunity to create activities for other players. Although the game interface is web-based, actual game play almost always takes place in the real world.

The site combines elements of social networking, blogging, messaging and file sharing to produce an effective mechanism for collaborating on projects of any kind.
