In March, we had a NetSquared Meetup during NTEN's Nonprofit Technology Conference at the at Loa Bar in New Orleans (where this photo was taken).

While I was there, I met Jessica Rohloff and we talked about her starting a Net Tuesday in New Orleans. I spoke with Jessica today, and she is ready to set the wheels in motion!

The site was created to answer the question, "How do you get info about what is going on in New Orleans to displaced people?" Rather than create separate web sites for city, state, local businesses and nonprofits to post information, the stakeholders began talking to each other and decided to create one web property together.

Going to the Nonprofit Technology Conference in New Orleans?

Want to meet members of the NetSquared, TechSoup and Nonprofits in Second Life community? Join us for cocktails on Wednesday, March 19th from 5-6:30 PM at Loa Bar in the International Hotel (221 Camp Street). We'll be meeting in the "altar" area.

It's super close to the Sheraton New Oreans (where NTC is being held). Here's a Google Map of the two locales.

It looks kinda fancy, so bring your party shoes!

Getting a Headcount for NTC Meetup in New Orleans

Susan Tenby, the Senior Manager of Online Community Development for TechSoup, and I are working out the details for the NetSquared/TechSoup/Nonprofits in Second Life meetup at NTC in New Orleans.

I recently caught up with Dr. Enoch Choi, a family physician from Palo Alto, California, at MashupCamp. He shares his experiences helping Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans, aided immensely with the use of portable wireless computers.
