The Vodafone Americas Foundation announces its Wireless Innovation Challenge, a new competition that seeks to identify and fund the best innovations using wireless related technology to address critical social issues around the world. Learn more!
Here you'll find a preview of the activities of NetSquared Year 2 (N2Y2), including some aspects familiar to the seasoned conference participant, and maybe - if we’ve done our job well enough - a few that are not. We’d like to say that this is meant to give you an idea of what you can expect.
Day 1 will begin with a brief opening statement, and quickly segue into the meat of the conference, as we immediately set the spotlight on the 21 projects that have been selected by the NetSquared community to be the focus of this Conference. In the first few morning hours of the Conference, each project will have their five-minute chance to captivate the entire audience in Cisco's main room. These pithy presentations will be interspersed with similarly brief talks from esteemed speakers, including Bradley Horowitz of Yahoo!
The main room will be broken down over the lunch hour into three rooms, each of which will house a Feedback Session track: (1) Social Impact, (2) Economic Sustainability and (3) Tech Innovation (this is what we are calling it in the printed guide). Each of the 21 projects will appear in each of the three rooms over the course of the first afternoon and second morning of the Conference, where they will receive feedback and questions from expert reviewers and audience members during tightly-timed 15-minute slots.
The Conference will culminate in the second afternoon, where Project representatives and Conference participants will have their final opportunity for personal conversation in an open, casual environment - the Carnival of Projects - before community voting begins. We encourage you to mix and mingle among the tables, where each project has chosen how best to represent themselves to you.
Each Conference participant will then vote to decide the distribution of the $100,000 NetSquared Innovation Awards, with the top three projects receiving $25,000, $15,000 and $10,000, respectively. We will follow voting by highlighting the contributions of the Innovator Support Network, then announce the projects that received the most votes, and distribute the contents of the Innovation Fund, right there and then, to the 21 Featured Projects.
