FelonResources

Voting Summary (Elevator Pitch):

To provide information and resources to formerly incarcerated people to help them become productive, tax-paying members of the community and deflate their burden to society.

Supporting organization:
Hand Up Ministries
URL:
http://www.felonresources.com
City:
Oklahoma City
State/Region:
Oklahoma
Country:
USA
Project Vision Statement & Potential Social Impact:

To become the most comprehensive source of help on the internet providing resources for those who are coming out of prison. This will be a "Web Portal" to thousands of agencies throughout the country. It is our mission to effectively reduce recidivism, making our communities safer and reducing costs to taxpayers.

Sustainability (financial) model:

We are currently supported by the Google Adsense program along with financial support from various churches and individuals. As the site gains popularity and notoriety, the income from Google Ads will increase significantly. Volunteers are being provided by the Oklahoma State University's "Reach for Work" program to do research and data entry.

Potential obstacles:

Community misunderstanding of the facts that cause recidivism. Negative publicity from news media regarding previously incarcerated people. Lack of information about the impact of high recidivism on community financial resources.

Resource Needs:

Additional funding until advertising revenue increases. This research can continue indefinitely on a budget of about $2500 per month. Donations have been minimal due to the "clientel" we serve.

New computers to increase research potential

Office Desks

Key Milestones:

The web site at www.felonresources.com is fully functional. We anticipate having research for Oklahoma completed in 60 days. As funding increases, research will intensify to include surrounding states and, eventually, all states. Within 90 days the surrounding states research will begin.

Project Summary:

FelonResources is a web "portal" providing information, resources, and links to agencies and organizations that provide assistance to previously incarcerated people. It is currently in the "research" stage with listings being updated on a monthly basis. It is our goal to becoming the most comprehensive web site in America as a "one stop" source for those in need, ultimately reducing recidivism, reducing costs to taxpayers and increasing tax revenues by putting these people on payrolls as productive members of society.

Comments

Felon Resources/Hand Up ministries

This is a bunch of scammers being investigated by both Oklahoma state and federal authorities. The loser running felonresources is a convicted child sex offender. The Hand Up Ministries he is involved in has now been exposed by the group saveokc.com and local media as being a child sex cult. Their swindles around town have been gaining lots of attention.

True Rehabilitation

There's no doubt that our penal system is lacking in its stated primary purpose, to punish and then rehabilitate those who commit crimes. I believe that something should be done to  improve the prospects for meaningful employment, i.e., to seal criminal records after so many years after release, to offer tax incentives to employers, and to reinstate full rights of citizenship for those who have demonstrated they are no longer a threat to society.

Peopleunit

Much needed project

FelonResources.com has helped me in a great way, I find it very resourceful. I believe this is essential to the wellbeing of every community. I want to see FelonResources.com prosper in it's mission to become a great resource to the men and women who are in need of this information.
