Social Connect

Change the Web

Social Connect uses the Social action API to search Social actions from accross 50+ sites and displays it to the user.

Facebook Connect : The use of Facebook connect means that the user can login to a site with his/her Facebook     credentials. Thus in other words the site virtually has a million users since its inception.

On Social Connect once a user makes a search he gets the list of   Social Actions on which he will be able to perform the following:

  1. Direct help : Click on the title and directly help the cause .
  2. Publish on Facebook Wall : Click on the "Publish to Facebook Wall" button which will publish the details of the action on his/her FB profile.
  3. Set as Facebook Status : Click on the "Set as Facebook Status" link which will set the details of the action as his FB status. Thus spreading the word to his friends
  4. Tweet Details : Click on "Twitnow" link. By doing this he will be able to twit the details of this action. Thus spreading the word to his followers.
  5. Share Link on FB : Click on "Share Link". Thus sharing the link on facebook and spreading the word to his friends
  6. Share link on Linkedin : Users can share the Social Action link with their linkedin colleagues and groups
  7. Post on Blogger : The users will be able to post the Social Action as a blog with their blogger account

  1. Invite your Facebook Friends to visit socialConnect by clicking the "Invite Facebook Friends" link in the header.

 

Future Scope:

  1. Allow users to send invites to their facebook friends to   visit the website.(Implemented)
  2. Allow uses to send direct messages or wall posts to their facebook friends about various social actions.

I will be making the source code available once i am done with its clean up and fixing of minor bugs.

There is still some minor features which i need to work   on which would be done before April 6.

Friend invite implemented

Now you can invite your Facebook Friends to visit socialConnect by clicking the "Invite Facebook Friends" link in the header.

  Added two new tools at socialConnect

So now users can do the following to a particular Social Action via
socialConnect:
-Publish on Facebook Wall

Easy-to-use UI

Excellent work. Easy-to-use UI. More work needed to direct people to search function. I spent a few seconds wondering where the content was at first. But then realized I hadn't selected anything. Maybe add bigger text "No search results. Please enter keywords of interests OR..." and/or graphics. Small things but overall a great application. Loved the graphics for sharing items with other well-known services e.g. twitter, facebook, etc.

Hi Leon,

Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you that my homepage needs attention. I will be working on it before the community voting begins and try to put some info. on it about the site via text/graphics.
